He painted figural compositions with bold strokes and in shades of cold or muted colour tones. On these there generally appears a body, which is not entire or complete, as if it was being limited by some wild internal forces and contrary events in the human state of mind. The painter subjugated the human figure to unusual, even horrifying deformations. He peeled the body back to its core, to its skeletal form, which is accompanied only by a loosely indicated bodily shell, he divided this into individual parts and submitted the thus crudely massacred material of the body to a process of new deployment in some artistic mise-en-scene. These bodies were frequently bereft of limbs, internal organs and other vital parts, or in the compositions they started to appear independently.
